Eating Well - The Role of Mindful Eating in Nutrition Education

This is a two-part series that discusses the role of nutrition education in Mindful Eating.

In part 1, we will explore a Motivational Interviewing teaching model and identify common problems associated with mindful eating and nutrition education.

In part 2, we will explore the research supporting Mindful Eating Interventions, review how programs are currently offering nutrition education as part of their programs, discuss national nutrition standards and explore how these can be used in an MBI-eating program.

Learning objectives:

  • Participants will be able to describe three benefits of using nonjudgmental awareness in counseling sessions
  • Participants will be able to three requirements for offering a Mindfulness Based Intervention eating program

Megrette Fletcher is a cofounder of The Center for Mindful Eating and has served many positions including the 2013-2016 President. She is a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator who has worked at an area hospital for over 16 years.
